Chief of Services

Dr. Paul Berdoulay is a graduate of Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine and completed his internship at Tidewater Veterinary Internal Medicine here in our community. Following a residency in small animal internal medicine at the University of Florida, he returned to the Tidewater area and co-established Coastal Veterinary Internal Medicine in Virginia Beach. He received board certification from the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 2004. Dr. Berdoulay and his cohesive team practiced for over a decade at a multi-specialty practice before joining BluePearl Veterinary Partners of Greenbrier Chesapeake in 2015.

Dr. Berdoulay’s incredible breadth of knowledge is combined with special clinical expertise in gastroenterology, hepatology, nephrology, urology, and oncology. Dr. Berdoulay is widely regarded as an extraordinary diagnostician, proficient in minimally invasive diagnostic testing and therapeutics utilizing advanced laboratory testing, ultrasound, endoscopy, and computed tomography (CT). He has published manuscripts evaluating heartworm serodiagnostics, snake envenomation, and drug side effects. Dr. Berdoulay is committed to continuing education to stay current with the latest diagnostic and therapeutic techniques and technology as they relate to the provision of canine and feline advanced internal medicine. He strongly believes in sharing his knowledge and has been a lead participant in post-doctoral veterinarians’ internal medicine and critical care training over the past 15 years.

Pet owners and referring veterinarians alike count on Dr. Berdoulay’s deep clinical expertise and incredible approachability. One of the most sought-after specialists in the area, Dr. Berdoulay will always take time to intensively review every case, patiently and empathetically explain a complex diagnosis to a concerned owner, and work closely to collaborate with their primary care veterinarian.

A positive attitude and a great sense of humor help lift anxious families’ spirits regarding their pet’s medical ailment. Your family will appreciate having Jen around to handle your pet’s clinical communication.

As our most knowledgeable service manager, you can rest assured that you and your pet will be treated with Jen’s kindness and expertise. While Jen loves all animals, she has a soft spot for hounds of all breeds. She is currently “Grandma” to the wild Sadie Mae, a treeing walker coonhound, and “mom” to Mo, a mixed breed cat with “tortie-tude.”

Skill, patience, and excellence are what Amber brings to the table as our veterinary technician. While she is often behind the scenes, Amber’s calm demeanor, love of our patients, and leadership have kept everything flowing smoothly since 2003.

Amber is the proud pet parent of three Chihuahuas named Minnie, Chandler, and Reggie.

If you are looking for kindness and care, let Stephanie help manage your pet’s health care. Stephanie has a combined total of 38 years of veterinary experience. Before joining Dr. Berdoulay’s team 16 years ago, Stephanie enjoyed working with Animal Eye Care, assisting in the care and surgery of many species and breeds of animals, especially sea turtles and even a tiger!

Stephanie owns two cats, Dexter and Zeeva, and a dog, Louie. All of her pets have been rescues or adoptees. Stephanie has compassion for all animals; however, we fondly call her the “Cat Whisperer.” As an experienced and compassionate veterinary assistant, Stephanie is well prepared to help you and your pet through their best and worst moments.

Jessica has been working in the veterinary industry for 20 years, with experience in small animal, large animal, and exotic medicine. She has been a valuable and compassionate member of the AVUE team since 2015.

Jessica loves caring for each patient, big or small, who comes through our doors and treats them as she would her own. Jessica has a wonderful pitbull named Hector and two Indian Runner ducks named Cheese and Quackers.
